Soccer is the most popular sport in Germany. In soccer, two teams of 11 people each compete against each other. The goal is to move the ball into the opponent's goal by means of a foot or head, thus shooting a goal.
As one of the most popular sports worldwide, more than 300,000 clubs are organized in national associations in the Football association FIFA. One distinguishes between professional soccer and amateur soccer. Men's soccer is generally more well-known and popular than women's soccer, but the latter is highly regarded in the USA and Germany.
