The internist is a specialist for internal medicine. He deals with disorders and diseases of the internal organs and metabolism. The field of activity is therefore very large, which is why there are many sub-areas in which an internist can be specialized.
Widely used areas of the internist are cardiology, metabolic medicine, pulmonology, pneumology, diabetology and oncology. In addition, many internists are also active as general practitioners.
Internist services
Internists take care of diseases and disorders of the internal organs and metabolism. The most well-known metabolic disorder is diabetes mellitus, which is why there are many diabetologists. The cardiologist deals with cardiovascular diseases. The pulmonologist or pulmonologist takes care of lung medicine and thus respiratory diseases. The oncologist deals with cancers.
