Well-known cabaret stages in Germany are eg " Die Stachelschweine " and the "Bar jeder Vernunft" in Berlin, the "academixer" in Leipzig, the “Leipziger Brettl”, the Nuremberg “Burgtheater”, the “Senftöpfchen” in Cologne and the Magdeburg “Zwickmühle”. Popular German cabaret artists include Jochen Busse, Rüdiger Hoffmann, Harald Schmidt and Anny Hartmann.
Comedies are performed in many theaters in Germany. One distinguishes between the following types of comedy: intriguing comedy, satirical-socio-critical comedy, grotesque and boulevard comedy.
