The youth welfare office is the authority that is responsible for child and youth welfare. Every place in Germany usually has an own youth welfare facility, while at county level there is the county youth welfare office.

General tasks of the youth welfare office are the youth social work, assistance to the education, child promotion and consultation offers. The SGB VIII (Sozialgesetzbuch VIII) is the most important basis in addition to the Youth Protection Act and the Youth Employment Protection Act.
